Anushka and Karnesh Sharma’s production banner, Clean Slate Films has made its mark as a content-driven, house of quality cinema. Maintaining a consistent record of making engaging and entertaining films, their latest co-production venture with KriArj Entertainment, Pari, is well on its way to turning profitable as the film comes to release this Friday. That a significant financial recovery has already begun for the film reflects smart thinking on the part of these new age film producers who believe in making good films for audiences in reasonable budgets.
Pari atmospheric horror flick promises to push the horror genre in India to another level. It marks the first time that a GenNext Bollywood A-lister like Anushka has sought to give this genre its due. Right from its first look, to the posters, screamers and the trailer, PARI has reminded us of the arresting quality of international cinema.
Focused on keeping the film’s budget tightly in control, the producers have managed to keep its Cost of Production (CoP) at 10 crores through effective cost management; and with an additional P&A (print and advertising) of 8 crores, the total cost of the project stands at 18 crores. So far, the film has already earned 10 crores from the sale of its satellite, music, digital & others ancillary rights; thus covering its CoP even before release. All that remains to be recovered is the P&A before the film turns profitable.
