Mithila Palkar in a candid conversation with mid-day

Mithila Palkar: Meera has her own personality on social media

The first season of this series left everyone awestruck with its slice-of-life content. Watching Girl in the City was in almost every teenager's to-do-list. The raw and real concept was the main string that struck the chord with its viewers. With successful two seasons, the series starts streaming with its third season on Bindaas Originals, starting from July 13 onwards. Continuing with the same characters - Mithila Palkar as protagonist Meera Sehgal and Rajat Bharmecha (Kartik), who made a special appearance in the series, they paved the way to the hearts of many through their affable characters.

Mid-day online got into a candid conversation with the cast of the show, and uncovered many unknown facets about the real people behind these characters! With back-to-back shooting and spending time together on sets, Mithila, Rajat and Swati Vatsa (Meera's roommate in season 1) have become the best of friends in real life too. "We've actually been in touch in between (after the series) as well, and this is season 3, so we know each other since three years," said Mithila.

Like any other friends circle, the trio also undergoes a lot of back-and-forth before they finally meet. Reason being, all three of them live in opposite directions in Mumbai. Rajat and Swati live in the suburbs while Meera is a townie. Talking about it, Rajat Bharmecha quips, "Because we spent more time together shooting, even after the shoot and in the middle of the promotions, we were making plans and kind of trying to meet. She (Mithila) lives in Dadar and she's lazy, so, we (Rajat and Swati) put in a little hard work and that's how we eventually meet up."

The character Meera resonates so much to everyone that Mithali was better known or rather only known as Meera Sehgal. Prod her about it and she asserts, "I didn't have much of a choice because even if I had to not live with her, I was living her because Meera has her own personality on social media and has her own Instagram pages. For the longest time people thought that I was Meera, and she exists in real life, and it's not a reel life character. So, I have been addressed to as Meera and not as Mithila."

Does she like it? "Now, I have gotten used to it. I haven't reached the point where I like it or don't like it. It's a part of me now," states the 25 year-old. Are they similar in real lives? "Not really. One major difference is that our idea of romance is very different."

A show, which just came up as a group of friends trying something new, it has reached to new heights. When asked them if they were confident about the content working so well, this is what Mithila had to say, "Not at all. In fact, Girl In The City was the first Bindass original series, which was started as an experiment. When it started, web series weren't as huge as they are today. It was really unexpected and it's really overwhelming to receive the kinds of responses that we have received."

"I had absolutely no idea that it would become so big. In fact, when I signed up for it, the concept was just few friends coming along and making a series. To be very honest, I thought, 'Who watches web series?' Now, it's a brilliant team coming together," added Rajat Bharmecha.
