The Byculla police have arrested a teacher of the all-boys St Mary’s High School (SSC) in Mazgaon for allegedly sending pornographic clips and videos to a Std X student via WhatsApp.

Officials said they arrested the teacher, Suresh Parasnath Singh, after the 17-year-old student’s parents approached the principal, Baptist Pinto. They told him that Singh had sent the student pornographic images and videos in April and May.
“The student had got some images and videos via WhatsApp from his teacher, which his parents saw recently. They reported this to the principal and he approached us. After inquiring into the allegations, we registered a case and arrested the teacher,” said DCP (Zone III), S Jaykumar.
The police have got Singh’s custody for four days and he has been booked under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, IT Act and Section 67 (A and B) of the Indian Penal Code (Punishment for publishing or transmitting material containing sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form and Punishment for publishing or transmitting of material depicting children in sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form).
While the principal, Baptist Pinto, refused to comment, the police said Singh had got the messages as forwards from his friends and he had forwarded them to the student.
