Yet another derailment took place on Western Railway, this time near Dahanu. At least 11 wagons of a container train heading in down direction towards Gujarat, derailed at Dahanu Road at about 2.50 am.

But, the good news is that suburban trains between Churchgate and Virar will remain unaffected.

Following the derailment, local trains between Virar and Dahanu plus long distance trains leaving Mumbai for Gujarat have been cancelled for the time being. There are around 80,000 people who travel in local trains from Dahanu to Virar / Churchgate daily. Gujarat Express, Firozpur Express, Bandra-Surat intercity and other similar trains have been curtailed.

Gajanan Mahatpurkar, spokesperson, Western Railway said: "So far no casualties have been reported. Restoration work is in full swing and senior railway officers are at the affected site".
