After the Lodha Committee imposed two-year suspensions on IPL sides Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, a look at what the coming days could bring...

What happens next in the Indian Premier League fixing saga...

Future of Chennai and Jaipur as IPL teams to be decided next:
The IPL Governing Council and the BCCI working committee will meet to decide the next steps post this verdict of Justice Lodha panel. It is therefore still up for debate if we will again have eight teams or just a six-team IPL.

Hyderabad redux?
It is possible that the teams could be recast much like the earlier act done with Deccan Chargers. Sunrisers Hyderabad stepped in and the city continued to be one of the IPL teams.

India Cements to appeal:
Throughout the day after the verdict, India Cements officials were in talks with their lawyers. Towards the end of the day it emerged that they could appeal the verdict in the Supreme Court depending on the legal advice.

Appeal likely from Raj Kundra and Gurunath Meiyappan:

Both Raj Kundra and Meiyappan could decide to appeal against the harsh verdict. It remains to be seen if a criminal case is filed against the duo because they have been held guilty of betting, which is illegal in India.

Rajasthan Royals may appeal too:
It is also possible that Rajasthan Royals could decide to appeal the verdict. But that is not yet clear because the officials of Rajasthan Royals are still in discussions.

Sundar Raman next on the radar:  IPL COO Sundar Raman IPL COO Sundar Raman

The Lodha panel is also going to be passing a verdict against the IPL Chief Operating Officer Sundar Raman. The IPL head honcho is accused of having interacted with an alleged bookie. If Raman is also found guilty then the overhaul in the IPL will be complete.

BCCI representative to ICC:
ICC chairman N Srinivasan

Questions about BCCI’s representative to the ICC will be raised again. N Srinivasan is the ICC chairman as long as he is the BCCI representative, that could well change if the mandarins decide otherwise.

BCCI reforms next step?
The Lodha panel’s remit also includes suggesting and bringing about sweeping organisational reforms in the BCCI. It could well be the start of something dramatic leading to the way the sport is run in the country.

Players names in sealed envelope to be revealed?
The other big shake-up could be if the Justice Lodha panel also reveals the names of the players listed in a sealed envelope. This list is meant to be an explosive who’s who of Indian cricket.

Future of players of CSK and RR secure?

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni along with teammates

Sunil Gavaskar said that it is difficult to imagine IPL without MS Dhoni. That certainly will not happen. The players on the roster of both CSK and Rajasthan Royals will definitely be accomodated in other sides or be adjusted in new sides that may come up.
