On July 25, 2024, Mumbai rains turned out to be fatal and caused substantial disruptions and hazards throughout the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai and neighbouring regions, predicting extremely heavy rainfall. The non-stop rain led to widespread waterlogging in areas such as Kurla, Andheri, BKC, and Chembur. The heavy  rain significantly impacted transportation in Mumbai. Local train services are operating at reduced speeds due to poor visibility, and several trains were suspended. On July 24, tragedy struck as a Saurya Airlines plane crashed and caught fire during takeoff from Kathmandu`s Tribhuvan International Airport. The misalignment between Mumbai’s Barfiwala flyover and the new Gokhale bridge has been corrected. A few months ago - this bridge was a matter of embarrassment to the authorities and disappointment to the commuters. On February 26th, when the new Gokhale bridge was partially reopened to the public, it was a matter of joy to the Andheri residents. Until it was found out that there was a huge gap between the CD Barfiwala flyover and the new Gokhale bridge. The flyover and the Gokhale bridge did not align. This blunder was a big nemesis for people travelling from Juhu. They were forced to navigate through the SV road which is a hotspot of traffic jams.
