WR opens temporary foot over bridge at Mumbai Central station in just 6 months

WR opens temporary foot over bridge at Mumbai Central station in just 6 months

A temporary lightweight steel foot over bridge has been built at Mumbai Central station to improve east-west connectivity after the Bellasis bridge was closed in June 2024. The old structure which was built in 1893 and had exceeded its expected lifespan of 100 years,  was declared dangerous as it was not in a good condition and had surpassed its expected lifespan. Commuters had been facing difficulties due to the bridge`s closure, which affected their daily travel. The new foot over bridge which includes plans for escalators, was completed in just six months which indeed is a remarkable achievement. This bridge marks a significant step for Mumbai, as it is the first of its kind built temporarily in response to a need for better pedestrian access. The Flyover bridge connects the station’s eastern side with the western side, allowing passengers to cross over the railway lines easily. It starts from the station approaching outside the ticket area and ends at JBB Road in Tardeo. The construction process was efficient. Workers fabricated the steel girders and columns at the same time as they dug the foundations, which sped up the project. The steel columns were erected in just two days, and it took four days to set up the cross girders. Thanks to prior trials, the assembly at the site took only three days, and the entire bridge was put up in a single day using a large crane. Instead of traditional reinforced concrete, the deck is made from a chequered plate, which saves a lot of time. This choice avoided the lengthy process of reinforcement and curing that concrete requires. The side railings and deck plate were installed at the same time, and the staircase was prefabricated to further speed up the work. Lighting was installed in just one day. ... [Read More]

CM Shinde slams opposition for attacking government’s toll waiver decision

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that five toll plazas in Mumbai will now be free for cars. He explained that this decision was made during a cabinet meeting and was not influenced by upcoming elections. Shinde highlighted that his government focuses on public welfare rather than political benefits. He criticized the Congress party, claiming they make empty promises in states like Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. According to Shinde, while his government aims to provide for the people, the opposition is only looking to gain power. He stated that the opposition has lost the trust of the public and is more concerned about their leadership struggles than serving the citizens. This move is part of Shinde’s commitment to prioritize the needs of the people over political interests.... [Read More]

Watch: IDF kills Hezbollah senior terrorist Yusef Anisi | Israel Hezbollah war

On October 4, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of Mahmoud Yusef Anisi, described as a "senior terrorist" within Hezbollah. PM Modi's brutal attack on J&K over Article 370 - WATCH

At a public rally in Sonipat, Prime Minister Modi launched a pointed critique of the Congress party, particularly regarding Article 370 and its implications for Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that Congress is not interested in peace in the region, suggesting their desire to restore Article 370 equates to a betrayal of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. Modi emphasized that such a move would not only undermine stability but also enable terrorism and serve the agendas of India’s adversaries. He framed the Congress party as prioritizing political gains over national security, claiming their actions could destabilize the progress made in Jammu and Kashmir. Modi`s comments aimed to rally support by portraying the restoration of Article 370 as a regressive step that disrespects the legacy of those who fought for the region`s integrity, reinforcing his government’s stance on national unity and security....
