Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 1: On this Doctor&rsquo;s Day, I reflect not only on my journey in the operating room, but on the incredible resilience of my patients-and the immense responsibility we carry as surgeons. In the delicate architecture of the human spine and the complex mechanics of joints, we do not just operate on bones-we work on restoring dignity, independence, and hope.
The Spine: Strength in Structure
The spine is our body&rsquo;s central axis, silently supporting every motion we make-from standing tall to tying a shoelace. But for many, that structure bends under the weight of conditions like scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, or spinal stenosis. One such patient, came to me with a severe, visible deformity, constant discomfort, and growing limitations in her everyday life.
Spinal deformity surgery is a deeply technical and emotionally significant task. Precision is critical-just a few millimetres off can impact nerve function. But when done right, it is transformational.
Today my patient stands tall with a straight spine, an even posture, and renewed confidence. Patient is not just walking better- living better.
