For many patients, getting specialized healthcare is not simply about finding the right professional. Sometimes, the distance itself becomes a challenge.
That was one of the reasons behind a special physiotherapy treatment camp now being conducted by Dr. Surabhi Dhanwala and her team from Pune at Bhosikar Hospital in Nanded.
The camp began on September 21, 2026, and will continue until September 30, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Interestingly, the initiative did not begin with this year&rsquo;s camp. It grew out of a relationship that has developed over the past three years.
Two physiotherapy check-up camps had already been conducted in Nanded, and according to the remarks shared during the programme, the response from residents encouraged further interaction between Dr. Dhanwala&rsquo;s team and the local community.
Then came a simple but significant request from Nanded residents.
For patients and families who needed physiotherapy support, travelling to Pune could be difficult. Residents reportedly approached <a href="https://dhanwala.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dr. Dhanwala</a> with a request: instead of requiring so many people to travel to Pune, could a special arrangement be made for patients in Nanded with her team?
That request eventually became the current treatment camp.
The programme is being conducted under the joint supervision of the Agrawal District Mahila Mandal, Narayan Reiki Satsang Parivar and Rajasthani Mahila Mandal, Nanded.
The inauguration was attended by several medical professionals and community representatives, including Dr. Bhosikar, Chest Physician Dr. Bharat Toshniwal, Fetal Medicine Expert Dr. Saurabh Choudhari and Agrasen Samiti President Suresh Gupta.
Among the other attendees were Kalpana Choudhari, Nisha Agrawal, Chanda Kabra, Shanta Kabra, Manju Agrawal, Sandhya Bhartiya, Shobha Toshniwal, Sangita Somani, Sangita Agrawal, Kamal Agrawal and Vandana Bhartiya.
The camp is focused on physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation, areas that can be relevant for people dealing with mobility difficulties, physical discomfort, injuries and other movement-related concerns. Individual treatment, of course, depends on professional assessment and the patient&rsquo;s specific condition.
What makes this initiative notable is its community-driven beginning. Rather than being limited to a single health camp, the programme follows two earlier check-up initiatives and the continued engagement of the organizers with local residents.
For Dr. Dhanwala and her team, the Nanded visit represents an opportunity to bring professional physiotherapy services to people who specifically requested greater accessibility.
For the residents, it means that seeking physiotherapy support does not necessarily begin with a journey to another city.
The camp will remain operational through September 30, making the initiative a ten-day opportunity for the Nanded community to access the scheduled physiotherapy services.
At its heart, the programme carries a straightforward message: healthcare becomes more meaningful when professional services can reach people where they live.
