What's it about: Creaky doors, hooting owls, eerie shadows, moaning sounds. Been there seen that. So what new stuff does Rokkk bring to the table? Well, 'new' wouldn't be the quite the word we would want to use. Cause Rokkk brings out the cobwebbed skeletons of age old pre-Ramsay era horror films. Anushka (Tanushree) starts seeing and hearing strange things in a foggy house she shares with her elderly husband (Sachin Khedekar). Calling them hallucinations and signs of boredom her husband tells her to just chill, in the bargain losing his life at the hands of a knife that slices his throat. After killing her husband and her sister-in-law the same night, Anushka is taken to a Gothika inspired mental asylum. Enter the saviour sister (Udita) who, with the help of tantric baba (Arif Zakaria), tries to solve the mystery. It's a ghastly end.

What's hot: Dialogues are easy on the ears and self explanatory, like those help aids you get while visiting museums. When the lights go off Sachin Khedekar says, "Oh! Bijlee chali gayi", or when the badly dressed ghost woman appears Tanushree shrieks, "Woh dekho, wahan hai". Thanks for being the Dummies Guide to Rokkk!u00a0

What's not: There's nothing that works in the film's favour. It really is a scary and frightful experience, unfortunately not in the expected way. Everything from the screenplay, dialogues, sets, costumes, lighting (if any) and special effects screams out u00e2u0080u0094 tacky! Debutant director Rajesh Ranshinge could have atleast tried to emulate a Ramsay movie, perhaps that attempt would have come out better. The background score or the screechy and grating sounds that come intermittently are annoyingly absurd and ridiculous. The cast sleepwalks through the film parading as actors in a film. Tanushree's make up and her clothes are right out of an 80s film. Udita and Shaad seem to be in a comatose state throughout. Special effects seem lifted from the Scary Movie series as they elicit laughter than shock.u00a0

What to do: Stop yourself from venturing out near this ill fated horror film which falls flat on every single front.
