TV actress Sonal Sehgal to debut opposite composer-actor Himesh Reshammiya in upcoming film

Will now debut in Reshammiya starrer, Ishq Unplugged

Her launchpad Nagesh Kukunoor's Aaashaiyen, with John Abraham lies stuck in the cans. So now, Sonal Sehgal is moving on to Ishq Unplugged with Himesh Reshammiya.

The small-screen actress has been pencilled in to star opposite the composer-singer-actor. Ishq Unplugged will be the Bollywood directorial debut of Swapna Waghmare Joshi who has earlier directed scores of television serials.

Moving on

Says a source, "Sonal was banking heavily on Aaashaiyen. It was her big ticket to B-Town with John as her co-star.

She had been made to sign a contract and kept herself away from the media scanner. But now that nothing is happening on the Aaashaiyen release front, she has decided to move on."

Adds the source, "Ishq Unplugged is slated to roll next week. And as for all his projects, Himesh has consulted his astrologer for the right date for it to go on the floors."

Sonal featured in shows like Saara Akash, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Hotel Kingston. She is married to musician Naresh Kamath (of the Naresh-Paresh duo), who also have a band Kailasa with Kailash Kher.

The source maintains, "At present, everything is under wraps about the project but Sonal has been signed.

Interestingly, Sapna had directed Sonal in Hotel Kingston."

The producers (TV 18) had desired Mallika Sherawat for the project. But she was not keen to act with the Aap Kaa Surroor co-star again as reported ('Nah'; Hitlist, February 2). She quoted an exorbitant fee that the producers did not want to pay.

Ishq Unplugged was announced in October last year. As reported ('Reshamm-iya romances, again!'; Hitlist, September 8), Himesh had described it "as a cute love story with a chance to score some fresh music."
