As the makers of Shahid Kapoor's next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, have not announced the female lead, there's speculation galore. The latest name doing the rounds is that of Vaani Kapoor. Earlier, Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor were said to be in talks. It is said that Vaani has had a series of meetings with producers Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor.

She is likely to sign on the dotted line for Shree Narayan Singh's directorial venture soon. As the Befikre (2016) actor's film with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, directed by Siddharth Anand, will roll later in 2018, Vaani will first shoot for Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which kicks off by February. If things take shape, this will be Vaani's first project outside the Yash Raj banner.
