Here's more on Pamuk:u00a0 &gt;&gt;u00a0Ferit Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish novelist and a professor at the Columbia University, where he teaches comparative literature and writing. &gt;&gt;u00a0He joined an architecture school only to leave it after three years to become a full-time writer. &gt;&gt;u00a0His first novel, Karanlik ve Isik (Darkness and Light) was a co-winner at the 1979 Milliyet Press Novel Contest. &gt;&gt;u00a0In 1990, Pamuk's novel Kara Kitap (The Black Book) became one of the most controversial and popular readings in Turkish literature due to its complexity and richness. &gt;&gt;u00a0In 2005, Pamuk received the u00a425,000 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade for his literary work. &gt;&gt;u00a0On October 12, 2006, the Swedish Academy announced that Pamuk had been awarded the 2006 Nobel Prize in literature.
