Fusion fiesta


Desi tastes are changing and the gown craze is setting in like never before. Indians are becoming more global in their outlook. This bridal season, we noticed a huge shift from the traditional lehangas and saris to the westernised, uber-chic gowns at the cocktail or reception functions. The colours that have been wooing brides are biscuit shades, ivory, peach etc. European tones and even different shades of the same colour are becoming a craze. It's all about luxury clothing these days. Sorbet shades like rose, electric blue are a rage at haldi functions. Digital prints, rich velvets and three-colour palates are calling the shots. From ornate sherwanis over lehengas to corseted cholis u2013 fusion is the mantra. Men too seem to be becoming very experimental with their clothes. They're as interested in what they wear, as the ladies. Sherwanis were a rage with them last year.

Style guru
I think there is something unique in every actress, so dressing up all of them would be fun. But I especially like the way Priyanka Chopra carries off her outfits. If given a choice, I would either doll her up in a short dress or a gown. I can't single out any actor. It is a treat to see our well-dressed Bollywood men.

Fashion malfunction
I think that dressing is a process. Like everything else in life, you make fashion mistakes and learn from them. But one faux pas that I notice around me is long boots. I personally feel that they're inappropriate in a city like Mumbai.
I draw inspiration from anything that is ethnic. I am very fascinated by Victorian architecture. In fact, even my store is done up in the Victorian style.
