Initially reluctant, Dhanush hesitated before saying, “I don’t know,” prompting a light-hearted comment that he was “too young” to define it. Filmmaker Anees Bazmee, known for enduring comedies like No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007), and Singh is Kinng (2008), said at the recently concluded Jagran Film Festival that such films have offered audiences far more than entertainment. He recalled a woman who told him Welcome helped her through a mental-health crisis, and shared another story about a friend’s father who was unable to communicate for two years. “He watched Welcome every day for a year,” Bazmee said, adding that the man later told him he “laughed on the inside” despite lying still and believed the film aided his recovery.
