Ranbir Kapoor’s Love and War has reportedly been delayed again, pushing its release closer to Ramayana: Part 1 in 2026. The overlap has allegedly disappointed the Ramayana team, which was hoping for a significant gap between the two big releases
Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Ranbir Kapoor is looking forward to 2026 as he has two major releases lined up for the year, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Love and War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1. Initially, the plan was to release Love and War in March 2026, followed by Ramayana during Diwali, ensuring ample space between the two releases. However, it now appears that Love and War has been delayed yet again and may release closer to the mythological epic.
Love and War delayed
According to reports, the March release plan for Love and War fell apart due to production delays. It was earlier reported that Ranbir had requested a June release, ahead of Ramayana. However, Bollywood Hungama recently reported that the shoot of Bhansali’s film has been extended until May 2026. With this delay, Love and War is now likely to release in August or September 2026.
This new development has reportedly left the makers of Ramayana disappointed, as they were hoping for a gap of at least six months between the two films. “The delay in shoots has also resulted in an increase in the budget for Love and War,” an insider added.
Meanwhile, the first look of Love and War is expected to be unveiled in January 2026, though there has been no official confirmation yet. On the other hand, the climax of the shoot remains to be filmed of which all three actors will be a part. Vicky and Ranbir will have six weeks of shoot left after Alia wraps the climax with them.
