What’s the best way for Salman Khan’s fans to celebrate his birthday? To follow in the superstar’s footsteps and help those in need. That’s what they are doing this year on a grand scale. As he turns 60 today, we’ve learnt that fan clubs across the country began charity programmes from early December to mark the occasion.

A source close to the actor said that 600 charity programmes have been organised in the past three weeks by over 200 fan clubs across India, Dubai, and Oman. For starters, a fan club based out of Bihar organised a community food distribution in Patna on December 15.

The source further shared, “One club organised a snack distribution for 200 students of MD Vidyalaya in Silvassa on December 22, while another provided meals to school girls in Modasa, Gujarat. Salman’s fans in Uttar Pradesh teamed up to conduct a food distribution programme for labourers in Lalitpur on December 10. Lunch was distributed at old age homes in Jhansi, Indore, and Delhi. In Dubai and Oman, food distribution camps were set up between December 20 and 23 for labourers.”

The idea was to provide not only meals to the underprivileged, but also essentials. The source added, “In Jhansi and other cities, a group distributed books, blankets, steel water bottles, jackets, and toys among the girl students of government schools. Similarly, another organisation distributed ration and wheelchairs in Mumbai. Salman’s foundation Being Human has encouraged his admirers to express their love for the actor by lending a helping hand.”
