Is in negotiations to feature on a British show; is looking to cash in on her celebrity
After Big Brother, Shilpa Shetty is all set to do more on British television. The reality show turned her fortunes around. She is now keen to cash on it further.
"My agents in England are in negotiations with a couple of producers. Doing television in Britain is not the same thing as doing it in India or even the US.
Britain has no real female celebrity from the entertainment world except Britney Spears.
Television is a terrific platform for celebrity-building. That's where Jade Goody God bless her soul came from."
All thanks to UK television
Though there has been buzz that she will feature in East Enders a soap show Shetty states that she will feature in something else.
On fears of being labelled a television star, she says, "It's not like doing a soap in India. British television is posh and has given some really big stars to the entertainment world.
I've done television in India (was a judge on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and an anchor on Bigg Boss 2).
Let's not forget, whatever happened to me internationally, was after I appeared on UK television."
Shilpa is now flying back and forth between India, England and South Africa, thanks to the IPL. She says she has no time for marriage. "In fact, our team is playing against the Cape Cobras in Cape Town on April 11.
She isn't getting married in October. "To my horror, even a date has been set for my marriage with Raj Kundra. Of course, I'm marrying him. But October? No way! It will be by the end of the year."
London is second home
She pooh-poohs the belief that she would relocate tou00a0 London after marriage. "Mumbai is and will remain my home. There's no way I will move to London.
At best, it would be a second home for me and Raj. For me, staying away from my family is out of the question."
In fact, the IPL was a conscious decision to wean Raj Kundra into India so that he'd spend more time with Shilpa in Mumbai.
Besides Desire and The Man, Shilpa has cut down on her assignments in Mumbai so she'd have the time later during the year for the British television series.
