Siddhant Issar

Actor, Writer-Director, Siddhant Issar's next Sanghaar The Massacre is set to release on the 16th of April 2021. The film is loosely inspired by the henious incident which occurred last year in Palghar, where two helpless old sages were lynched by a misinformed mob. Exactly one year after the incident, Siddhant is releasing this experimental feature of 50 minutes on his YouTube channel Showman Theatre Productions.

Siddhant says "My heart pained when no one took a stand on social media and no one condemned the murder of those Sages. In our country, for every small thing there is a candle march, a protest, a social media uproar. How ever after the brutal murder of those two saints last year no one stood up, raised a voice or even offered any condolence? I understand that the matter is subjudice and personally have full faith in the government, judiciary, police and the legal system of Maharahstra and India, and the culprits will be brought to books. Purely taking inspiration from that incident, I penned down a fictional story loosely themed around a similar scenario, where two peaceful sages are lynched by a misled mob. Besides this, the film also raises a voice against animal cruelty, mainly- cow slaughter.

He further states “The short film is not at all communal or fundamental. It upholds core sanatan values of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam. The Whole World Is One Family and ‘Sarva Dharma Samabhava’ All Faith's Are Equal. No particular faith has been targeted and the image of no sub group has been tarnished. The film in its spirit preaches secularism, communal harmony and unity. With Sanghaar, I wanted to give a strong message and take a stand against cow slaughter and also the violence against saints, which was done last year in Palghar hence made a fictional film based on these topics but I believe the film is not at all controversial, polarizing or disturbing to any communities sentiments. It rather preaches peace and unity in diversity.”

Siddhant, who is the writer and director of this short film, has also acted in it. Interestingly the film also stars his father Puneet Issar in a pivotal role and the title track has been sung by Kailash Kher.
