In Bollywood, a single film can change the trajectory of a star's career. Hence, film rejections have for years been the industry's biggest turning points. Over the years, several A-list actors have broken the usual silence to openly voice their remorse and reveal they rejected iconic roles.

The actress revealed the reason behind rejecting Brad Pitt's Troy in a video uploaded by InUth on its YouTube channel. She said, "When Troy was spoken about, forget on the script level, they were saying at least 6-9 months to lock off (the schedule) because it is a huge film. We were like ‘wow.’ But obviously, we have a way of looking at it like – this is your part…(expressing that her part was not big enough) lock off that kind of time when I had films here I was committed to, I couldn’t get myself to kick that to the kerb. You understand the impact of the cinema (Troy). It is exciting because these are huge offers…"

In a candid 2003 interview with Rediff, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared her side of the story amid the salary rumours. She said, "Everyone thinks I am out of the film because I quoted a hefty fee. That isn't the entire truth. I did K3G for practically nothing. Karan's father, Yashji (Yash Johar), who is a wonderful human being, had promised me and my mother a certain remuneration for my next film for the Johars. When Yashji came to me for Nikkhil Advani's film, he said he could only pay me half of what he agreed on."

Kareena Kapoor - Kal Ho Na Ho

In a candid 2003 interview with Rediff, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared her side of the story amid the salary rumours. She said, "Everyone thinks I am out of the film because I quoted a hefty fee. Karan's father, Yashji (Yash Johar), who is a wonderful human being, had promised me and my mother a certain remuneration for my next film for the Johars. While speaking at a press conference of of PVR-INOX's Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar, the actor shared, "I was doing a film called 'Darr' but I didn't do it. That was for other reasons. Not for creative reasons. I feel whatever happened happened for the better. Even today, I feel Shah Rukh suited slightly better the 'sur' (note) that Yash ji had visualised for the character.

I said 'I like the film but I feel you should take it to Salman Khan'. But he didn't take the script to Salman, he instead took it to Kabir. Eventually, Kabir went to Salman," he said about the 2015 superhit.

Talking to Kapil Sharma on his show, Salman had said, “I liked Baazigar, but I found the character too negative. So I told Abbas-Mustan to add a mother-like character. Both the brothers laughed at us, saying that this is very cliche. This was dad’s suggestion that he is doing this for his mother. Anyway, we left the film and SRK signed the film. They saw the film. After the entire film was completed, they called me and said that mother idea that you had na, we are adding to the film. Thank you very much.”

During an appearance on Neha Dhupia’s talk show, BFFs With Vogue, Shahid shared, “I regret not doing the film. They wanted me to play the role of Siddharth. I’d cried while reading the script and loved it, but unfortunately, I couldn’t make time for it."

At HT India’s Most Stylish Awards, Akshay had revealed said, “Actually, I regret not doing that film. It was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. I was offered that film but I opted for Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara. That’s the film I am very guilty of not doing it and not watching also.”
