Let's do a 'lyrical' round-up of the year gone by and the film releases which made the year the way it was.

The year started on an extremely positive note for everyone in Bollywood
With the reopening of the theatres, many rediscovered their lost livelihood!
With no major release in the month of January this year,
None of the actors or filmmakers had anything to fear!
The month of February saw the release of Gehraiyaan starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Deepika Padukone,
Despite all the hype around the film, it started melting like an ice cream cone!
This was followed by the Rajkummar Rao-Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Badhaai Do’,
Which was followed by the hit film Ali Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi… which had a strong premise… even though!

Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer 'Radhe Shyam' was expected to dominate the month of March,
But, it was Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ which provided the box-office its much-awaited starch!
Even though Akshay Kumar’s 'Bachchhan Paandey' met with a response lukewarm,
Vidya Balan’s 'Jalsa' and late Rishi Kapoor’s 'Sharmaji Namkeen' had the audiences see them in swarm!

April saw John Abraham ready with is 'Attack',
Abhishek Bachchan student at in ‘Dasvi’ kept his box office position intact!
The month also saw the release of films like 'Heropanti 2', 'Jersey' and 'Runway 34',
Even though these films could not hit a six at the box office, they did manage with a moderate four!

In May, while all eyes were trained on much awaited ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ starring Ranveer Singh,
But, it was Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ that made the box office windows sing!
While Kangana Ranaut had ‘Dhaakad’, Ayushmann Khurrana had ‘Anek’,
Seeing their collections, there were many who became awake!

The month of June saw the release of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, the magnum opus,
Little did anyone expect or anticipate that this film will miss the bus!
Movies released after that were dangling between ‘will it’ and ‘whether’,
Actually, not many films were able to ruffle the box office feather!

July saw the release of ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ starring R. Madhavan,
Packed with watertight script and stellar performances, it proved that why it is box office’s chosen one!
While Jahnvi Kapoor enthralled everyone with her performance in ‘Good Luck Jerry’,
Sadly, the Ranbir-Vaani starrer 'Shamshera' failed to become the audiences’s cherry.

Come August and one saw ‘Darlings’, the maiden production of Alia Bhatt,
Sadly though, films like ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and ‘Liger’ turned out to be a tough nut!
Then came the gigantic and most awaited ‘Brahmastra: Part One’,
Whose production value did make everyone stun!

September saw films like ‘Babli Bouncer’, ‘Chup’, ‘Vikram Vedha’ trying their luck,
Luckily, none od these films became out for a duck!
Madhuri Dixit stunned everyone in October with ‘Maja Ma’, followed by ‘Goodbye’ starring Big B,
With these names dominating October… Oh! What a month it had turned out to be!

November saw films quirky and offbeat films like ‘Phone Bhoot’ and 'Double XL',
Then came the multi-starrer ‘Uunchai’, where everyone’s performance excel!
While Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam 2’ once again set the cash registers’s ball rolling,
Other films failed to make the ticket windows swing!

Many of December releases saw script holding the key,
Testimony to this were films like ‘Qala’, ‘An Action Hero’ and ‘Salaam Venky’!
The year wrapped up with Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ and Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’,
Both these films fared between ok and average, without creating any fuss!
