On behalf of the production company, KVN Productions, the makers of actor Vijay's highly anticipated farewell movie, Jana Nayagan, have filed an urgent case with the Madras High Court. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has not yet issued a censor certificate, despite the movie's January 9 release date. The petition requests action to speed up this process.

Urgent appeal in Madras High Court

The urgent appeal will be heard by the Madras High Court at 2:15 pm, since the film's producers want prompt justice.

On December 18, the filmmakers reportedly submitted H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan to the CBFC. The filmmakers quickly accepted the board's minor adjustments. The certificate is still pending, though. For movie theater owners and patrons around Tamil Nadu, the delay has created a great deal of concern. As both Jana Nayagan and Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi await their censorship certificates, advance ticket sales have been suspended.

In response, theaters have postponed their booking periods, making it impossible for enthusiastic patrons to get tickets. The release of Jana Nayagan on January 9 and Parasakthi on January 10 has caused a great deal of excitement and worry among both theater owners and moviegoers.

Representatives of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay's political party, have voiced their displeasure with the hold-up. Deputy General Secretary CT Nirmal Kumar warned the CBFC earlier today that certification must be finished within a few hours before the party takes further action. "The deadline for CBFC certification is in the next few hours, or we will take our next step," he stated in a chat with India Today. After consulting with Vijay, we will determine the best course of action. Since mid-December, CBFC members have been waiting for the movie certificate.

A few theaters around the nation have opened tickets for Jana Nayagan despite the lack of a censor certificate.

All about Jana Nayagan

Talking about the film Jana Nayagan, Thalapathy Vijay’s last film marks the end of an era in Tamil cinema as the superstar prepares to fully focus on politics. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film is positioned as a socially driven entertainer that reflects Vijay’s long-standing image as a mass leader with a message. Packed with action, emotion and strong political undertones, the movie is expected to mirror his real-life transition into public service. Fans see the film as a farewell tribute, celebrating Vijay’s decades-long journey, screen presence and influence, before he steps away from acting to pursue his political ambitions full time
