Superstar Rajinikanth is currently working on his next release, Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. As the sequel is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of 2026, an update regarding Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo has surfaced. As per reports, he will play Rajinikanth’s close confidant in the film and mark his South debut.

Recently, Mithun Chakraborty confirmed that the Jawan actor will have a special appearance in the film. Hindustan Times quoted a source saying, “Shah Rukh plays the role of Rajinikanth’s close friend and confidante, whom he trusts with his life."
As of now, the last leg of Jailer 2 is reportedly being completed in Chennai. That said, Shah Rukh's cameo has apparently not been shot yet. The makers have reportedly scheduled a separate date to shoot SRK's part.

Jailer 2 is an upcoming action-comedy drama starring Rajinikanth in the lead role. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film serves as a sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer. Actors such as Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and others are expected to make appearances. A source reportedly stated that Vidya would portray Mithun Chakraborty's daughter in the movie. The film is set to release in mid-2026.
After wrapping up Jailer 2, Rajinikanth will appear in the lead role in the tentatively titled Thalaivar 173. The upcoming film will be directed by Don fame Cibi Chakravarthy and co-produced by Kamal Haasan.
