After multiple videos of fans dressed as Dhaivaradhane from Kantara Chapter 1 emerged, the makers have now issued a statement urging fans not to imitate or mimic the spiritual character, as it hurts the religious sentiments
Rishab Shetty in Kantara
Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara Chapter 1 has been taking the box office by storm. Besides, it is also receiving a lot of critical acclaim. The film's craze is seen by the fan videos that are going viral on social media, in which people are performing Dhaivaradhane (Bhoota Kola) inside the theatre and even outside. People are mimicking and imitating Rishab Shetty's act in the film. As a result, the makers took to social media to urge people not to do such acts, as it hurts religious sentiments.
Kantara Chapter 1 makers issue statement
The statement read, "To the cinephiles and the global audience, Dhaivaradhane stands as a profound symbol of faith and cultural pride within Tulunadu, the coastal region of Karnataka. Our films, Kantara and Kantara Chapter-1, were created with the purpose of respectfully portraying this devotion and celebrating the glory of the Daivas. We have strived tirelessly to ensure that the profound respect and unwavering devotion central to Dhaivaradhane were honoured, successfully spreading the significance and heritage of the Tulu soil with the world. "We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming positive response. However, we have observed that certain individuals have been imitating the Daiva characters from the movie and engaging in inappropriate behaviour in public spaces and gatherings," the makers went on to share.
Claiming that such acts can deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Tulu community, they added, "Dhaivaradhane or Daiva worship, as featured in our film, is rooted in deep spiritual tradition and is not intended for performance or casual mimicry. Such acts amount to trivialising our belief system and deeply hurt the religious sentiments and faith of the Tulu community. Hombale Films therefore makes a strong and sincere appeal to the public and audiences to refrain from any act that involves imitating, mimicking, or trivializing the Daiva personas-whether in cinema halls or in public places."
Requesting all to uphold the sacred nature of Dhaivaradhane, they further urged, "We urge all citizens to recognize the spiritual importance of these portrayals and act responsibly, ensuring that the devotion we sought to celebrate is never compromised or treated lightly. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation in preserving the sanctity of this invaluable cultural heritage."
Kantara Chapter 1 makers statement against piracy
The makers of director Rishab Shetty's pan-India film Kantara: Chapter 1 had earlier appealed to audiences and fans not to support piracy, saying it not only harmed the film but also the dreams and efforts of thousands who worked tirelessly to bring the film to life.
Taking to its social media timelines, Hombale Films, put out an appeal that read, " Dear Kantara family and cinema lovers, From the beginning, Kantara has been yours as much as ours. Your love and support have carried this journey forward. We humbly request you not to support piracy. It not only harms the film but also the dreams and efforts of thousands who worked tirelessly to bring it to life."
"We also kindly ask fans not to record or share videos from theatres even with good intentions, it takes away the magic of cinema. Kantara Chapter 1 was created for the big screen for you to feel every sound, every frame, every emotion as it was meant to be. Let's protect this journey together and keep Kantara an unforgettable experience in theatres," the makers wrote.
