Namrata Shirodkar was a leading name in the glamour world and was one of the topmost actresses of the late 90s, while, Mahesh Babu was carving a niche.
They met each other during the shooting of their Telugu film, Vamsi. After a brief meeting for the mahurat of the film, the two left an everlasting impression on each other.
The duo dated quietly for five years before tying the knot in 2005. The couple exchanged vows in a traditional Telugu ceremony.
In a throwback interview with the Spotboye, Namrata recalled how she had to wait for four years to get married to Mahesh as he had to win over his family.
She once shared, "I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have my bouts of anxiety during those four years. But I was sure I wanted to marry only Mahesh. If not him, then no one else. And he was sure of it too.”
For the unversed, Namrata was older by four years, and Mahesh's family objected it. His sister Manjula understood, supported him, and gently helped their parents come around.
Namrata also shared that Mahesh was clear about wanting a non-working wife; as a result, she happily chose to step away from her film career to focus on their life together.
Mahesh and Namrata were blessed with a son, Gautham Krishna, in 2006. Their daughter Sitara was born in 2012.
Gautham made his acting debut when he played the younger version of Mahesh Babu’s character in Sukumar’s 1: Nenokkadine (2014). Sitara, on the other hand, has often garnered a lot of attention with her stunning appearances.
Mahesh, Namrata, and their kids stand as a testament to enduring love and a harmonious family life.
On the work front, Mahesh Babu will next be seen in SS Rajamouli's Varanasi. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra in lead role.
