Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil superstar Vijay, is making his feature directorial debut with Sigma. Choosing filmmaking over acting, he has opened up about his decision to work behind the camera as excitement grows around his first project

Jason Sanjay is the son of actor-politician Vijay, who is now serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Despite being born into one of Tamil cinema's biggest families, Jason has chosen to establish his own identity behind the camera rather than in front of it.

Unlike many star kids, Jason never prioritised acting. He revealed that filmmaking always fascinated him more than performing, and directing became his ultimate career goal.

He is making his directorial debut with Sigma. The upcoming Tamil film marks his first feature as a filmmaker and has generated immense curiosity among fans eager to see his creative vision.

Jason once turned down an acting offer from acclaimed filmmaker Alphonse Puthren. He said he rejected the opportunity because he wanted to focus entirely on learning and pursuing direction.

Growing up around film sets played a major role in shaping his career. Frequent visits to shooting locations and watching world cinema sparked his interest in storytelling, screenplay writing and filmmaking.

His parents encouraged his decision. Jason has credited his family for believing in his dream and supporting his ambition to become a director instead of pushing him towards acting.

The idea for Sigma evolved over several years. According to Jason, the script gradually took shape before becoming his debut directorial project.

The film stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role. Reports describe Sigma as a high-octane heist entertainer featuring action, comedy and a treasure-hunt backdrop, supported by an ensemble cast.

Jason has earned praise from his cast and crew. Actor Shiv Panditt described the debutant director as someone with remarkable clarity, saying he knows exactly what he wants from every scene.

The film's release plans have reportedly changed. Sigma, initially expected to release in July, is reportedly being pushed to August to avoid clashing with Vijay's highly anticipated Jana Nayagan. An official confirmation is awaited.

With Sigma, Jason hopes to carve out his own space in Tamil cinema. Rather than relying on his famous surname, he wants audiences to judge him for his storytelling and filmmaking abilities, making his debut one of the industry's most closely watched launches.
