90s most popular sitcom &ndash; 'Shrimaan Shrimati' - is all set to return to the small screens after 24 years. The show will have an altogether new star cast but will retain the same director. The show will be titled as 'Shrimaan Shrimati Phir Se', reports <a title="Shrimaan Shrimati" href="https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tv/shrimaan-shrimati-returns-to-the-small-screen-after-24-years/articleshow/62906870.cms" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Mumbai Mirror</a>.
The original show, which was first aired on Doordarshan was directed by Rajan Waghdhare, written by Ashok Patole and produced by Adhikari brothers- Gautam Adhikari and Markand Adhikari. The premise of the show was about two husbands, who were attracted by the respective neighbour's wives. The show featured late actress Reema Lagoo, late actor Jatin Kanakia,&nbsp;Rakesh Bedi and Archana Puran Singh.
Talking about the new star cast, the publication reports that Barkha Bisht will feature as Prema aka Doll, Suresh Menon as Dilruba Jarnail Singh Khurana, Samir Shah as Keshav Kulkarni/Keku and Sucheta Khanna as Kokila Kulkarni aka Koki. "Our writer Ashok ji and the two lead actors &ndash; Jatin ji and Reema ji &ndash; aren't with us anymore but we have been constantly asked about the show's return. So I reached out to the producers and came up with the idea to use the original script for the new season with new faces as Shrimaan Shrimati. The show was ahead of its time so we have used the same dialogue as well but with a contemporary touch," confirmed director Rajan, who began shooting for the show seven months ago and has already wrapped up 30-35 episodes.
Director further told the tabloid how the first day on the sets was nostalgic for them. He said, "I have been in touch with Rakesh ji and he is excited to see the new season. Jaspal Sandhu, who played Mr Dalal in the original, is returning to the character. It was great fun shooting with him again. We're trying to bring back as many original cast members as possible."
One of the popular shows, 'Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai', is also based on the similar premise. Speaking about if this show's popularity will affect the new season, he says, "Many people have tried to replicate our show and all of them worked. I don't think it is a competition as our humour, treatment and characters are different from everyone else's."
