Officers Sofiya Qureshi, Vyomika Singh / Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan will welcome distinguished personnel from the Indian Armed Forces in the Independence Day special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 17.
The special episode will feature officers narrating critical moments from India's Operation Sindoor, which was carried out against terror facilities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22.
While the officers most certainly requested authorization from the relevant authorities, their appearance has sparked outrage, with many netizens calling it a "PR stunt" and an effort at "political mileage."
Colonel Sofiya and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh gave press briefings throughout the mission.
Here's how the netizens reacted
The makers just released a trailer for the show, which will run on August 15, showing KBC presenter Amitabh Bachchan welcoming the officers. Netizens reacted sternly to the promo, a user wrote on X, “This is just unbelievable. Operation Sindoor heroes appearing on national TV show KBC Just because one 'nationalist' party wants to milk some votes?”
Our Army was sacrosanct, above politics, beyond PR.

Today, Modi govt parades serving soldiers on shows like KBC for image building. Even our Army has been made a political tool for Modi’s PR.

Another one wrote how Army was beyond PR, but by appearing on KBC, the have made it a political tool, "Our Army was sacrosanct, above politics, beyond PR. A user mentioned which next reality show would they appear, "What next will they now be a part of Bigg Boss or Khatron ke Khiladi or Dance India Dance. From when did soldiers need this kind of cheap publicity. Hardly inspiring . There r much better platforms, formal and decent which should have been used if at all."
This is going to burn asses of a lot of people. Infact, the usual suspects are already crying.

Those who denied the success of Operation Sindoor will get another reminder why it was successful. This time from KBC.

"Have you ever seen anything like this after a military operation in any serious country? How is this even allowed for someone in service? The current regime is shamelessly using our forces for its petty politics and hyper-nationalism," another user wrote.
A user also questioned whether armed forces protocol allowed personnel to appear on reality shows such as KBC. "The Indian Armed Forces have some protocol, some dignity and huge respect. Politicians are ruining it for their personal benefit. That's shameful," he penned.
Priyanka Chaturvedi of the Shiv Sena (UBT) also spoke about the show. Priyanka wrote it on X, "Our heroic women in Uniform who went on to become the face of Operation Sindoor have been invited by a private entertainment channel on their show. This private entertainment channel’s parent company Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has also bagged the broadcasting rights of the Asia Cup till 2031. Yes the very channel that seeks to earn revenue through India vs Pakistan cricket matches. Now join the dots."
