For actress Sumbul Touqeer who is known for shows like Imlie, Kavya - Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon and currently seen in Itni si Khushi, feels Women’s Day is not only about celebration but also about understanding the journeys of women around us. She believes the day is a reminder to appreciate the strength that women show in everyday life.
Sumbul Touqeer on celebrating Women's Day
“Women’s Day makes me think about the many women who quietly inspire us,” Sumbul says. “Not every story of strength is loud or visible, but every woman has her own struggles and victories.” She adds that many of her life lessons about strength and resilience came from observing the women around her as she grew up.
Talking about personal inspiration, Sumbul shares that her sister Saniya plays a very important role in her life. Even though Saniya is younger than her, Sumbul says she often looks up to her.
“My sister Saniya is one of my biggest inspirations,” she says. “Even though she is younger than me, there are many times when I feel she is more mature and emotionally stronger.” She adds that Saniya has always supported her through different phases of life and helped her stay grounded.
Sumbul also believes that the women she has worked with in the industry have influenced her in many ways. Working closely with female co actors, she says, has taught her a lot about confidence, discipline, and independence.
Calls women around her an inspiration
“I have learned so much just by watching my female co actors,” she says. “Every woman has a different way of handling challenges, and those experiences teach you something valuable.”
When speaking about empowerment, Sumbul feels that it is not about constantly proving yourself to the world.
“Empowerment is about knowing your worth and living life on your own terms,” she says. She adds that financial independence also plays a very important role in helping women feel confident about their choices.
Looking ahead, Sumbul believes the biggest change needed in society is a shift in mindset. She says that boys and girls should grow up with the same respect and opportunities.
“When equality becomes a natural part of everyday life, that will be the real celebration of Women’s Day,” she says.
