Bigg Boss 20 is set to have Aamir Khan's brother as a contestant. Faissal Khan had previously made several allegations against his family, including claims of confinement, being labelled mentally unwell and career sabotage by Aamir Khan. He also spoke about family disputes, before publicly apologising in 2026

Faissal Khan had told ANI that his family, including his brother Aamir Khan, forcibly confined him to a house in Mumbai for nearly a year. He claimed that his phone was taken away, his movement was restricted and bodyguards were stationed outside his room. Faissal has made these allegations while recounting his strained relationship with his family and the legal dispute that followed. He said, "Aur Aamir ne mujhe qaid kar diya tha ghar me ek saal. Mobile le liya, main bahar nahi jaa sakta. Bodyguard mere room ke bahar. Dawaiyan de rahe hain (Aamir had locked me inside the house for a year. My phone was taken, I couldn’t go out. There were bodyguards outside my room. I was given medicine)."

Faissal has also claimed while talking to Bollywood Hungama, that his family labelled him mentally unstable and diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia, allegations he strongly denied. He said the label was used to discredit him and control his personal and financial affairs. His claims were linked to the legal battle he fought against his family in 2007–08, during which he underwent medical evaluations, including at JJ Hospital. Faissal has maintained that the court eventually recognised him as mentally fit and capable of managing his own affairs.

According to Faissal, the family conflict intensified in 2002 after his divorce. He has claimed that relatives pressured him to remarry within the extended family, including a proposal that he marry his mother’s first cousin, which he refused. He has described the disagreement as one of the factors that contributed to the deterioration of his relationship with his family.

Faissal has also spoken about writing a personal letter to his family in which he addressed and criticised what he viewed as the personal lives and shortcomings of various family members. He claimed that the letter further aggravated tensions within the household and contributed to the escalation of the dispute.

During a press conference, Faissal made serious allegations about Aamir Khan’s personal life, claiming that the actor had an extramarital relationship with British journalist Jessica Hines and fathered a child with her while married to Reena Dutta. These remain allegations made by Faissal and should be attributed to him rather than presented as established facts.

Faissal has further claimed in Ronak Kotecha's podcast that Aamir used his influence in the Hindi film industry to sabotage his acting career instead of supporting him. He has spoken about feeling professionally undermined and claimed that his brother’s influence affected the opportunities available to him as an actor.

Over the years, Faissal repeatedly spoke about cutting ties with his family and, at various points, said he was willing to give up claims to family inheritance. He had also made a public statement on his social media handle, "I, Faissal Khan, have from the date hereof severed all ties, familial as well as in estate, with my family members, the names whereof are more particularly described in the Schedule hereunder written. All persons are required to take note that on and from the date hereof I shall not be known as forming part of the family of my late father Tahir Husain or my mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, and, or any other family member more particularly described in the Schedule hereunder written, and I shall not be entitled to any rights arising out of the estate of either of them or liable for any liability arising out of the estate of either of them."

Days before Aamir Khan's third marriage in 2026, he publicly changed his tone. Speaking on Ujjwal Trivedi’s podcast, "I first want to apologize to my Ammi that I made the mistake of saying everything in public. I want to apologize to Ammi and Nikhat because a man tends to say it all, whatever he's been feeling and suppressing for all this while. I'd gone overboard with Nikhat and her husband Santosh Hegde, which I shouldn't have said at all. It was very wrong. I've realised my mistake now, hence asking for forgiveness. I also said bad things about Aamir. I just want to continue with our decision to be on good terms going forward. I wish our relationship becomes even stronger."

In 2022, Faissal Khan had reacted to speculations of doing Bigg Boss. While denying the rumours to ETimes, he said, "In Bigg Boss, everyone is pitted against each other, they fight, argue and then you’re also given tasks. They play with you mentally. I didn’t want to get trapped in that zone. They give you some money but by Allah’s grace I don’t need much money. So, I thought why should I get caged? Who likes being caged? Everyone likes a free life."
