Jay and Mahhi first met at a friend’s party and later reconnected at a nightclub, where their friendship blossomed into love. Jay had even revealed that Mahhi was his first ever girlfriend.
The actor proposed to her on December 31, 2009, marking the start of a beautiful journey. They tied the knot in 2010.
Well not many are aware of the fact that Jay and Mahhi did have a secret wedding. It was in 2011 when both of them had secretly tied the knot and kept it a secret until Mahhi was seen wearing a mangalsutra at a party.
It was in 2014 that Jay and Mahhi had a second white wedding in Las Vegas. There were rumours doing the rounds that the pair had separated, but their wedding snaps from Vegas were proof that they were indeed going strong.
In an interview with ETimes, Jay revealed, “I invited everyone, but no one arrived as everyone thought I was a Casanova. But, when the right person is in front of you, you keep everything else aside.”
Breaking stereotypes, Jay and Mahhi adopted their house help's children, Rajveer and Khushi, in 2019. While reports do round that they have abondoned them post Tara's birth, they shut down claims by sharing adorable pics with them and providing them a good life.
Two years later, in 2019, they welcomed their biological daughter, Tara, completing their family. She is a loved social media sensation now.
However, the journey was not easy, Mahhi went through painful IVF cycles and endured pregnancy complications. In an interview she revealed, "Because you know IVF is not an easy journey. There are ups and downs and emotionally you feel drained even your health goes for a toss. Tara was our last try and it clicked."
The couple has always treated netizens with glimpses of their happy life. However, Jay and Mahhi's marriage has hit rough path and the strain in their marriage was visible when they stopped posting with each other since 2024.
Earlier this year, Mahhi reacted to rumours of divorce and replied, “Why should I tell you? Are you my uncle?” Amid speculation, the couple was last seen together at Tara's birthday party.
According to Hindustan Times' latest report, Jay and Mahhi's divorce was filed and finalised in July-August. The actress has moved into a new apartment and has resumed work. The custody of their kids has also been settled.
Jay, on the other hand, recently spent quality time with his daughters Tara and Khushi on a vacation to Japan. Sharing pictures on Instagram, he called them “the best child companions I could have got.”
