For all those children who are keen on aeromodelling (the art of making flying prototypes), the Karjat-based residential school India First Foundation School (IFFS) is hosting an event called, Little Scientist. The project will encompass activities like making of a monorail, tricopter, parachute, etc.

The two-day workshop will be hosted at Karjat. It aims to provide hands-on experience to students (of eighth and ninth standard) under proper guidance. For the event, IFFS has invited students from schools of Mumbai and Pune for a free, residential workshop. Schools from Mumbai can nominate two students from their school for it.

On day one, students will make a six-inch sized prototype of the Aero L-39 Albatross, which was selected as the standard jet trainer in 1972 for the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact countries. This will be a card paper plane with rubber power. The team will also demonstrate two more airplanes, which every student can carry home with them.

On day two, there will be a workshop on making a three-feet big RC Plane. The students can interact with the team of scientists to clear their doubts in the field or career guidance in the fields of Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Participation is free, including food and stay at the residential school.

The workshop will be conducted under the guidance of aeromodelling trainer Vijayraj Malhotra. Ben Nikaido, an Aerospace scientist from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center, USA, visited India on account of Global Village Project hosted by the school on February 14 where Little Scientist was flagged off.
