Mumbaikars are busy dancing their heart out at different gatherings for Navratri across the city. Among the many performances, Falguni Pathak surprised attendees in BKC by singing 'Yaya Maya Ya' and 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost' after that and instantly made everybody city-dweller happy.

If you are a Mumbaikar, you know how the songs are synonymous with the city for many decades now, and you don't have to be from a particular community to boast of knowing it better as it is sung and danced to at every other party in city.

The song, made popular by celebrated Goan singer Remo Fernandes in the 1990s, is a favourite not only among the Catholic community but also Mumbaikars who have grown up listening to it. Proof is in the fact that a user even commented, "What in the Goan Gujarati world" on the Jio Convention Centre Instagram page.

It got even better for others present there because in the same breath, she continued to sing 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost', another song that is sung by Mumbaikars at birthday parties, anniversaries and even weddings. While the song was popularly sung by Bappi Lahiri in 1982, it has had several versions over the years just like 'Yaya Maya Ya' but no songs celebrate the city's culture better than these among so many other language songs.

Performing at the Jio World Convention Centre at the Radiance Dandiya Navratri Utsav 2025, Falguni Pathak's surprise certainly changed the beat and uplifted the mood even more in Mumbai, with four more days to go.
