Hyundai's premium hatchback, the i20 has clocked 1 million sales across the globe. The figure includes sales of the original i20, the Elite i20 and the i20 Active as well. Notably, the vehicle was first introduced in 2008 and is built in India for international markets.

The Elite i20 has dominated the B-segment landscape in India. The Indian Car Of The Year (ICOTY) for 2015, the Hyundai has caught the fancy of a large set of buyers thanks to the styling and features on offer. Commenting on the achievement, Y.K. Koo - MD &amp; CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), said, &ldquo;Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Hyundai i20&rsquo;s staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers sporty design, functionality and class-leading performance."

However, the demand from the domestic market exceeded the Korean automaker's expectation. Hyundai duly met the increased demand, and the rest is history! The latest iteration of the hatchback was first introduced in 2014, and was given a mild facelift earlier this year. With prices starting at Rs 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo and the Ford Figo.
