It's often said that silence is golden in relationships. Now, a new study has confirmed that it really is true, particularly for couples who are married for years.

Researchers in Britain have carried out the study and found that after 50 years of marriage, most couples chat for three minutes over dinner, exchanging just 150 words. Even then three of them are likely to be "pass the ketchup".
