We're distant... not from our feelings, though

My best friend and I have been going out (dating) of late. We've always liked each other a lot. We've been best friends forever. We got into engineering colleges him in Pune and me in Mumbai. We didn't want to seem like a burden or an unnecessary stress to the other and since most long-distance relationships don't work, we broke up. We're still in touch and know everything about each other, though. We still love eash other (I think). Honestly, I'm not over him, to tell you the truth. And as far as I know him, he was far more serious about me than I was of him. Somehow we can't speak to each other about this matter but are aware of our feelings for each other. Should we wait a year to figure out what our feelings for each other are? And then maybe, try again?

There comes a certain intimacy when you are in love with your best friend (and likewise). That said, I think the two of you are going about this 'break-up' without really giving youru00a0 'relationship' a chance. It's not fair to either of you, if the two of you are that close. But maybe a trial separation might just work if only to figure out how strong your feelings for each other are. Otherwise, Mumbai and Pune are not that distant telephonically or geographically. If you can't meet up, there's no excuse for not keeping in touch, with several options at your disposal. If you feel the need to test your love, that's a call you'll have to make personally.
