Police have arrested the accused under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC. “The woman and her husband, both in their 20s, had got married in secret last August. However, afterwards they kept staying with their respective families. Recently, the girl’s relatives got wind of the marriage and started threatening her of dire consequences,” said inspector Kishor Jadhav of Yerwada police station.
He said that the woman came with her husband to the police station on Saturday to file a complaint against her relatives. However, they were followed by her brother and other family members and a verbal spat ensued.
