Even as a joint meeting was going on at the police commissionerate wherein police officials from 24 districts prone to chain snatching were busy chalking out an action plan to curb the menace of the chain grabbing incidents, the city recorded a whopping nine cases of forceful robbery and chain snatching incidents across various parts of the city on Tuesday.
Offences were reported from Swargate, Sahakarnagar, Chinchwad, Yerawada, Vishrantwadi, Pimpri and Nigdi wherein gold ornaments and one vehicle, all collectively worth Rs 6.5 lakh, were robbed from victims.
“At the meeting, we exchanged ideas on how to curb the menace of the chain snatching. Information on the suspects too were shared with each other, so that a tab can be kept on the suspects,” said ACP (crime) Rajendra Bhamare.
