The police have booked a 48-year-old man for allegedly cheating people of Rs 84 lakh. Arun Rajaram Jadhav and his relatives and friends gave cash to the accused, Pradeep Raut, to invest in profitable schemes. Raut was posing as an LIC agent when Jadhav met him in 2004. "To gain their confidence, Raut paid the premiums for the policies for three years from his pocket. In 2007, he stopped the payment," said a police officer.
