A 30-year-old Bhayandar resident, Brinson Sequeira, was deported from Singapore after authorities found his job offer and visa were fake. Two women have been booked for allegedly cheating him of Rs 3.60 lakh.

Name: Brinson Sequeira, 30
Residence: Bhayandar West
Job: Customer service agent, Tech Mahindra, Goregaon East
Family: Father works as a driver at the French Consulate 

How the scam worked

April 2025: Sequeira contacted Ashna Shetty via a friend 
Summoned to VA Immigration Consultancy, Evershine Mall, Malad West
Promised a Singapore office admin job at “Lucky Global Services”

Payment made

>> Paid R3.60 lakh via UPI and cheques in May 2025
>> Received the offer letter on WhatsApp
>> July 15: Claimed In-Principle Approval (IPA) visa approved
>> October 3: Flight booked from Mumbai to Singapore 

Arrival in Singapore

>> Flight: IndiGo landed on Oct 3
>> Immigrationdetained him; visa not approved, company non-existent
>> Deported on Oct 4, 2025 

Fake job scam

Do’s
>> Check if the recruitment agency is MEA-registered on the eMigrate portal
>> Check the company on LinkedIn/Google; contact directly
>> Report suspicious offers to the cybercrime cell (cybercrime.gov.in)

Don’t
>> Don’t pay security deposits or training fees upfront
>> Don’t share passport, bank, Aadhaar early
>> Don’t rush; verify before proceeding
