The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs has detected three cases of gold smuggling in last 24 hours and recovered about 1.2 kilograms of yellow metal worth Rs 32.12 lakh. In the first case the officials intercepted one Faisal Paliwala, who had arrived from Bangkok, and his search resulted in recovery of four gold bars weighing 400 grams valued at Rs 11.80 lakh, said an official.
He had concealed it in specially made pockets in the inner side of the waistband of the trouser worn by him, said the official. In the second case one Kandathil Rafi who had arrived from Dubai was intercepted and his search resulted in recovery of copper colour coated gold wires weighing 587 grams valued at Rs 17.32 lakh, he said.
