The North cyber police have arrested a 25-year-old SIM card agent from Chembur for allegedly supplying over 600 E-SIM cards of various cellular companies and cyber fraudsters, which were later used in multiple online cyber scams.

According to the North Regional Cyber Cell, the accused Kamal Pukraj Kuldeep, who worked as a POS agent for telecom companies, allegedly misused customers’ documents.

Police said that whenever a customer came to buy a SIM card, the accused would take their Aadhaar and KYC documents. After giving the buyer one SIM card, he would allegedly activate multiple additional E-SIMs using the same documents and sell them to cyber criminals.

These SIM cards were then used by fraudsters in various online scams and digital arrest fraud cases.

During the investigation, Senior inspector Kiran Aher Police inspector Sunil Lokhande PSI Sandeep Pachangne traced one such mobile number through bank KYC details. When the SIM card holder was located, he told police he had no knowledge of the fraud and had only purchased a SIM card using his documents.
