Mumbai Police on Friday returned stolen and misplaced items worth more than Rs 1.54 crore to 227 rightful owners, police said.

The items were returned during an held in Bandra Kurla Complex on Friday by the Zone VIII of Mumbai Police, an official said.

The items were returned by BKC, Kherwadi, Nirmal Nagar, Vakola, Vile Parle, Sahar and Airport police stations under the jurisdiction of Zone VIII, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Manish Kalwaniya, according to the PTI.

The items include mobile phones, jewellery, vehicles, laptops and cash, all of which were recovered over the last few months after FIRs were registered, he said.

In a similar event in March this year, the Zone IX of the Mumbai Police had organised a ‘Seized Property-Return Ceremony’ and handed over valuables worth around Rs 3 crore to their respective owners, police had earlier said.

During the event, the police had returned stolen and missing items such as cash, mobile phones, gold jewellery, vehicles, watches, and other belongings to the owners.

The complainants who reported their valuables missing were invited to the event at St Joseph’s Church in Juhu. The complainants expressed their satisfaction over the police's action after receiving their stolen and missing valuables.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Dikshit Gedam, Additional Commissioner of Police Paramjeet Singh Dahiya, as well as other ACPs and senior inspectors from all police stations in Zone 9 (Bandra, Khar, Juhu, Santacruz, Versova, Oshiwara and DN Nagar, Amboli police stations).

Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch team also attended the event to return the stolen and missing valuables to their owners.

A total of 184 items, collectively valuing Rs 3,02,25,747, were returned to the complainants during the event, an official had earlier said.

Earlier this month, the Kalyan Police Zone in Maharashtra's Thane district has returned 72 mobile phones, reported stolen or lost, to their respective owners, according to an official.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-III) Atul Zende presented the recovered devices, collectively valued at Rs 11.18 lakh, to the rightful owners at an event.

The department announced in a formal release that these mobile phones were recovered subsequent to recent complaints lodged at the Khadakpada, Mahatma Phule, Bazarpeth, and Kolsewadi police stations in Thane district of Maharashtra
