According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the incident occurred in the Vile Parle area. Preliminary investigations suggest that a heated argument broke out between two taxi drivers, which escalated into a violent confrontation. It is alleged that the driver of the Ertiga, in a fit of rage, attempted to run over the other man standing in front of his car.
In a desperate bid to save himself, the man jumped onto the car’s bonnet — and what followed was a harrowing incident.
The terrifying incident was captured on a mobile phone camera by a biker riding behind the vehicle. The video clearly shows the car speeding up as the man clung on to the bonnet, fighting to keep his balance.
This disturbing video has gone viral on social media, prompting the Airport Police to register an offence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The driver of the Ertiga, Bhimprasad Mahato, has been served with a notice, said a senior Mumbai Police officer.
“We have also confiscated Mahato’s taxi for further investigation,” the officer told mid-day.
