After two separate incidents last month, in which a police sub-inspector and a constable were attacked, a fresh case has come to light where a woman allegedly bit a police officer’s thumb during mediation in a flat dispute.

Sakinaka police have booked seven accused under sections 115(2), 121(1), 132, 189(2), 190, 191(2), 324(2), 333, 351(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to police, the complainant, Abdul Sheikh (47), resides in the Sagar Heights area of Sakinaka. His flat originally belonged to the accused, Anjum Syed, who had rented it to one Mohini Saraswat for two years. However, without any official agreement, Mohini allegedly took Rs 15 lakh from Abdul and handed over the flat to him on a heavy deposit basis. When the fraud came to light, Abdul registered a complaint at the Sakinaka police station, and Mohini was booked on July 6.

The complaint also mentions that Anjum brought goons to threaten Abdul and force him to vacate the flat, while her brother, Mohammed, repeatedly tried to barge into the house.

On September 26, while Abdul was in Andheri West, his young daughter called him to say that some people were trying to break down their house door. Abdul immediately alerted the police control room and rushed home, where he saw a group attempting to break the safety door with iron rods and hurling abuses at his wife.

Police arrived at the spot to control the situation, but the accused allegedly created further chaos. During the intervention, Anjum bit the left thumb of PSI Ahire, causing a bleeding injury. Meanwhile, her brother Mohammed allegedly threatened the officer, saying, “Main tumhe dekh loonga” (I’ll deal with you). All accused were then taken to the police station, and an FIR was registered.

Previous incidents of attacks on Sakinaka police:

Drug peddler attack: In Andheri West’s DN Nagar area, a Sakinaka police team was attacked with a knife by habitual drug peddler Aqib Khan (35) when they attempted to arrest him.

Father-son assault: An on-duty PSI at Sakinaka police station was attacked by Drish Sharma (19) and his father, Pawan Sharma (48), who tore the buttons off his uniform during the scuffle.
