Navi Mumbai: Case against firm for allegedly providing fake bank guarantees worth Rs 1 crore to Panvel civic body

An engineering firm won Panvel civic agency's contracts for repairing public toilets & sewage pipelines requiring bank guarantees of Rs 1,32,63,229. The firm furnished forged documents.

A case has been filed against a representative of a company in Maharashtra's Latur district for allegedly submitting bogus bank guarantees worth more than Rs 1 crore to the Panvel Municipal Corporation to get contracts for maintenance projects, according to police reports on Tuesday.

Between November 17, 2022, and February 26, 2024, the engineering firm was awarded contracts for the maintenance, repair, and renovation of all public toilets within the Panvel Municipal Corporation limits, as well as the repair and renovation of sewage pipelines in Navi Mumbai's Kharghar area, according to a Panvel town police official, reported PTI.
