Crime Branch officials approached the Esplanade court yesterday and sought permission to prosecute the mother-daughter duo for providing false information with the intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power.<br /><br />Investigations have revealed that Anita was near Mumbai on Saturday and Sunday, and this has been corroborated by her phone records. Crime Branch sleuths are scrutinising her phone records and will verify all the people that she spoke to from January 9 to11.<br /><br />Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria said, "It's impossible that Anita travelled to the US. We checked all the immigration records to confirm if this woman had left the country. Besides she does not have a passport."<br /><br />A senior crime branch officer said Anita had a tendency to contradict her own statements. Therefore, she was removed from the list of witnesses.</p>
