Doctors treating the three injured in the horrifying helicopter crash in Aarey Colony at the Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri have said the next 24 hours are going to be crucial for them. The crash has claimed one life, that of pilot Praful Mishra and grievously injured three others on board. The injured are Ritesh (33) and Brinda Modi (31), a couple who were celebrating their anniversary and Sanjay Shankar, a technician.

LP Sadhya, the vice president of the hospital said Ritesh too has burn injuries but has sustained severe head injuries. “Since there are a lot of burns and nerve damage, we have called in a neurosurgeon,” he said.

“A CT scan has been done on all three to determine if there is any internal injury or bleeding that can deteriorate their condition. The reports are clean but the doctor says they might need to undergo more tests. The next 24 hours will be crucial for them, especially for Ritesh,” said hospital superintendent Dr Raj Karva.
In the ICU
Praful was declared brought dead to the hospital. Karva said Ritesh has sustained injuries on his chest and head and is on ventilator support, while Brinda is conscious and stable though she has suffered 30 per cent burns. Shankar has suffered a minor fracture in his hand and is recuperating.
“All the three of them have been kept under observation in ICU. Other than Ritesh, the remaining two are stable and conscious. Specialists have been called to look into it,” said Karva. Brinda has major burns in the lower half of her body.
Wife injured, but stable
As per doctors who treated her, the fire burnt Brinda’s silk clothes along with her skin. “We have kept her under observation and she might also sustain internal injuries. We have provided her with painkillers to suppress the pain. But she is in her senses and has not puked yet, which is a good sign,” said a doctor, adding, “For now, she will be kept in isolation to stop the spreading of any infection.” Shankar, however, is much better, although he has multiple fractures and a severely injured right hand along with some bruises on his head and stomach.
