Maharashtra Chief Minister&nbsp;Devendra Fadnavis today said the car shed of phase III of Mumbai&nbsp;Metro will come up in the Aarey Colony in north Mumbai, an&nbsp;area known for its green-cover.
"Precinct development activity will be permitted. I am&nbsp;willing to have larger consultations with stakeholders due to&nbsp;the opposition to the project. Our endeavour is to protect&nbsp;green spaces," Fadnavis said here.
The project will entail a large-scale felling of trees&nbsp;and the locals are opposed to it.
The Chief Minister also said that he expected the new&nbsp;development plan of Mumbai to be approved by year-end.
"It is not full and final. DP will be in public domain&nbsp;for suggestions, objections and later it will be discussed by&nbsp;a seven-member committee headed by standing committee chairman&nbsp;and then come to the state government," he said.
He had asked the civic body to work with the Union&nbsp;Ministry of Environment and Forests for uniform development&nbsp;control (DC) rules in Mumbai, he said.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister also said that Yashwantrao Chavan&nbsp;Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) was preparing&nbsp;a draft legislation providing for housing for all, which will&nbsp;be published for suggestions soon.
"Consultations are on with all the government&nbsp;departments and after the draft is ready, it will be put up&nbsp;before the cabinet," he said.
The TDR (transfer of development rights) policy would&nbsp;also be put in public domain soon.
"Based on the suggestions and objections, we will take&nbsp;final call," he said.
