Malad cops convert NC into FIR in robbery case

The very day MiD DAY reported about how officials of the Malad police station registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence instead of a First Information Report (FIR) in a robbery case (‘Valuables stolen from car, but cops don’t file FIR’, April 13), officials called the complainant and did the needful. The action was taken after superiors ordered the assistant police inspector of Malad police station to convert the NC into an FIR.The case was finally registered under sections 379 and 427 of the IPC.
